NSMS is a non-religious, non-partisan registered charitable society. NSMS has offered specialized settlement, English language services, integration and family programs since 1991, and immigrant focused employment services since 2001. Services are open to immigrant and refugee clients of all racial, ethnic, religious, social and economic backgrounds. NSMS is the most comprehensive settlement organization working on the North Shore and sees approximately 5,000 new immigrants per year. Over 150 established members of the North Shore community volunteer their time to help us deliver high quality programs and to welcome the North Shore’s newest residents. NSMS has developed a continuum of services that meet the needs of new immigrants, which are provided in a central hub for immigrant services in North Vancouver.

NSMS has also been the lead organization in multiple community initiatives to address the inclusion of newcomers in mainstream programs and services. We are the managing organization and co-chair of the of the Welcoming Action Committee (WAC) which serves as the Local Immigrant Partnership Council (LIPS). The Welcoming Action Committee works together to address issues of immigrant settlement, and to develop welcoming and inclusive activities in our community. Building partnerships in service delivery is a strategic objective of our organization.
