Support NSMS: Help us build a strong, diverse and welcoming North Shore

Many of our programs and workshops require the help of volunteers.

  • English Language Centre Volunteers assist teachers in class by working with small groups and individuals needing individual support.
  • Interviewers – people experienced in interviewing for employment assist job searcher by conducting practice job interviews.
  • Community Bridging volunteers take part in activities that are fun and informative, assisting newcomers by going on tour of community locations and taking part in informal English Café sessions.
  • Settlement volunteers assist Settlement staff in setting up and delivery workshops.

Newcomers who volunteer their time not only gain relevant Canadian experience, but also act as role models to other newcomers, showing them that they too can make a positive contribution to their new community.

Established residents have the opportunity to share rich and valuable experiences with newcomers. They help us make new immigrants feel welcome, and strengthen the North Shore community by encouraging the participation of its newest residents.
