Career Paths at NSMS – North Vancouver, West Vancouver and the Coast is for skilled immigrants with education and experience in a regulated or unregulated occupation. This program is designed to provide career planning and financial support to skilled newcomers, help them find a job that best suits their pre-arrival qualifications, and gain Canadian work experience.
Our services include:
- Career planning
- Financial support for Skills Enhancement Services (e.g. formal credential assessment, technical skills and academic upgrading, exam preparation, professional membership and recognition)
- 1:1 mentorship with a professional in your field
- Job search workshops and networking opportunities/events leading to job placements
To be eligible for this program, you must:
- Have received Permanent Resident or Refugee status within the last 5 years
- Be currently living on the North Shore/Coast
- Be underemployed or unemployed, non-EI non-BCEA eligible
- Have 3 years pre-arrival experience (1 year for youth) in a regulated or unregulated occupation
- Have intermediate English language skills, above CLB 5 or 6
